SEEG (stereo-electroencephalography) is a minimally invasive technique used to record electrical activity directly from the brain by implanting electrodes in specific regions. It is primarily used to localize the origin of epileptic seizures in drug-resistant patients being evaluated for epilepsy surgery.

SEEG vs EEG

SEEG involves placing electrodes directly inside the brain, allowing for precise recording from deep and specific regions, whereas surface EEG uses electrodes on the scalp and captures more generalized, superficial brain activity.
