Last November, a specialized SEEG training course led by Dr. Philippe Kahane was held in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil. More than 20 experienced neurologists and neurophysiologists, along with three neurosurgeons, traveled from across the country to participate at the Centro de Cirurgia de Epilepsia of Hospital das Clínicas de Ribeirão Preto.
Over four intensive days, the program offered a comprehensive curriculum covering:
Each day concluded with an in‑depth clinical case discussion, during which participants collaborated to determine optimal implantation strategies for potential SEEG candidates.
Thanks to these collaborative sessions, three cases advanced to SEEG surgeries during the course. Dr. Kahane later reviewed the resulting data with the participants, providing hands‑on interpretation and valuable clinical insights.
The event was organized by Dr. Ameriko Sakamoto and the team at Hospital das Clínicas de Ribeirão Preto. We were proud to support this important educational initiative, together with our Brazilian distributor, Micromedical, by sponsoring Dr. Kahane’s participation and reaffirming our commitment to expanding SEEG expertise and education among specialists in Brazil.
